Bowel Cancer Survival rates reduces dramatically according to stage of diagnosis

The stage at which a patient with Bowel Cancer is diagnosed is critical.

Early stage diagnosis(stage 1) has a 90% 5 Year survival rate, that means for 100 people diagnosed as stage 1 about 90 people will survive past 5 years after treatment with surgery/chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Costing then NHS £3400* per patient on average

Late stage diagnosis (stage 4) has a 10% 5 Year survival rate, that means for 100 people diagnosed as stage 4 about 10 people will survive past 5 years after treatment with surgery/chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Costing then NHS £12500* per patient on average
