Four steps from order to results

No clinic visit, no GP appointment, no uncomfortable conversations. Just professional-grade diagnostics on your schedule

Step 1 — Order your kit online

Time:

Under 2 minutes

What happens:

Choose your test on our shop page and order securely online. Free UK delivery is included with every order, dispatched in plain, unbranded packaging so nothing on the outside reveals what’s inside. Your kit arrives within 2 working days.

What’s in the box:

  • Your test collection device (varies by test — stool tube, blood spot card, or saliva tube)

  • Step-by-step printed instructions in plain English

  • A sample ID label linked to your secure account

  • A prepaid, sealed return envelope addressed to the processing laboratory

  • A safety pouch and biohazard bag where required

Step 2 — Collect your sample at home

Time:

Around 5 minutes

What happens:

Follow the printed instructions at a time that suits you. Most collections take around five minutes. You don’t need any clinical training, and you don’t need to attend a clinic.

Before you collect — general guidance:

  • Some tests require fasting or specific timing. Always check the printed instructions included with your kit.

  • Avoid smoking, alcohol, or strenuous exercise in the hours before collection unless your test instructions allow it.

  • Women: some tests should not be performed during menstruation. Check the kit insert.

  • Activate your kit by registering the sample ID on your secure account before posting.

Step 3 — Post your sample (free return)

Time:

Drop in any Royal Mail postbox

What happens:

Seal your sample in the prepaid return envelope and post it the same day where possible. Postage is included — there’s nothing further to pay. Samples are tracked from receipt at the laboratory.

Good to know:

  • Post Monday to Thursday where possible so samples aren’t held over a weekend.

  • Samples are stable for transit — you don’t need cold storage or any special handling.

If your sample is lost or damaged in transit, we send a replacement kit free of charge.

Step 4 — Receive lab-verified results

Time:

Within 10–14 days of laboratory receipt

What happens:

Once your sample reaches the laboratory, it’s processed using the same molecular diagnostics standards used in private clinical settings. Your results appear in your secure online account, along with clear, plain-English explanation of what they mean and what your next steps could be.

What you receive:

  • A clinical results report you can download or share with your GP

  • Reference ranges and what your specific values mean in context

  • Clear next-step guidance — including when to consult your GP

  • Email notification the moment your results are ready

What happens at the laboratory

We don’t process samples in a back office. Every MeCheck sample is analysed in a named, accredited clinical laboratory — the same standard required for NHS diagnostic services.

Depending on which test you order, your sample is processed by UK or European Labs . Each partner is independently accredited and uses validated molecular diagnostics platforms.

Results are reviewed against current clinical reference ranges and benchmarked using guidelines from professional bodies including the ACMG and ACGS. Where Dr Tang has reviewed the test for inclusion on MeCheck, his clinical validity framework applies.

Your results belong to you

Intro:

A test result is only useful if you understand it. Every MeCheck result is delivered with plain-English explanation, clinical context, and a clear next-step recommendation.

What your report includes

  • Your test outcome (e.g. “no markers detected”, “markers detected — recommend follow-up”) explained in plain English

  • All numerical values benchmarked against the clinical reference range for your test

  • A summary section you can download as a PDF and share with your GP

  • Next-step guidance specific to your result — including when no action is needed and when to book a GP appointment

If your result is in the normal range

We’ll explain what that means in context — and how often you may want to retest based on your age, family history, and lifestyle factors.

If your result needs follow-up

You’ll receive a clear explanation of what the result indicates, what it does not indicate (most screening results are not diagnoses), and what conversation to have with your GP or specialist next. For bowel cancer screening, this often means your GP referring you for a colonoscopy. For hereditary cancer panels, this often means a genetic counselling referral.

Speak to a real person if you need to

Results can be unsettling — especially before you understand what they mean. You can email us at info@mecheck.co.uk with any question about your report, and a real human will respond within a few hours, Monday to Friday.

Frequently Asked Questions Section

Section heading:

Frequently asked questions

Intro:

The most common practical questions about ordering, collecting, posting, and receiving your test. For test-specific clinical questions, see the FAQ on each product page.

How discreet is the packaging?

Completely. Your kit arrives in plain, unbranded packaging with no mention of MeCheck, the test, or the laboratory on the outside.

How long does delivery take?

Free UK delivery within 2 working days of order. You’ll receive a tracking link by email.

How long do results take?

Lab-verified results appear in your secure account within 10–14 days of the laboratory receiving your sample. You’ll receive an email notification the moment they’re ready.

What if my sample is lost in the post?

We send a replacement kit free of charge. Email us at info@mecheck.co.uk with your order reference and we’ll dispatch a new one the same working day.

Can I share a kit with my partner or family member?

No. Each kit is linked to a single registered account and a single sample ID for processing accuracy and data privacy. Order an additional kit at checkout for anyone else taking the test.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. MeCheck is a direct-to-consumer service. You can order any of our tests without a GP referral. If your result indicates follow-up, you’ll want to discuss it with your GP — the report is written to make that conversation straightforward.

What if I have an abnormal result?

Your report will explain exactly what the result means and what next step to take. For most tests, an abnormal screening result means following up with your GP — not a diagnosis on its own. You can also email us with any question about your report.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery and provided the kit is unused and the seal is intact. See our refund policy for full details.

Is MeCheck regulated?

All MeCheck tests are CE-marked in vitro diagnostic devices compliant with UK IVDR. Clinical oversight is provided by Dr Chun Tang, a GMC-registered GP (ref. 4576963). See the About MeCheck page for full regulatory details.
